About Us

Welcome

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! My mission is to not just help educate you but to also encourage you along on your homesteading journey. If at any time you have a question or more, please feel free to drop me a line at becca@themoorefamilyhomestead.com!

About Me:

I’m Becca, a country girl turned city girl who has returned to her roots! I was born into a very self-sufficient, homesteading family and learned so much about home-cookin’ and food preservation from my mom, nana, and aunt. I live on our 3 1/2 acre homestead with my husband Dan and six of our seven kiddos.

About Our Homestead:

We moved from the Northeast to the Midwest in 2017 in hopes of putting our vision into action of producing our own food and living a simpler more relaxed life. Ironically, life has been anything but simple and relaxed, but we have learned so much about ourselves, each other, and this crazy homesteading lifestyle. We first arrived here in Missouri in early 2017 and were excited to settle into our 25-acre homestead. Unfortunately, our first home here did not work out the way we had hoped and we had to find a different property. This put all our homesteading efforts on hold and this is where we have learned that everything is in God’s timing, not our’s.

Our new homestead is quite a bit smaller, only 3 1/2 acres, but we love it and we can do so much with what the Lord has blessed us with here. We are currently raising hens for eggs and will be adding to our flock this year and expanding our coop. I am quite ecstatic about our plans for our first garden here at the new homestead and the possibility that pigs may soon make their way onto our homestead.

Family

My large, crazy, rambunctious family is the single largest blessing I have in my life. The Lord has blessed me with an amazing husband who no matter what we’ve been through, he has never, ever given up. Dan and I met when we were in high school, almost 26 years ago. We are now going on 20 years of marriage and our lives together have been the most exciting roller coaster ride ever. We are growing each day in the God-given roles that we have been blessed with and we are constantly learning what that means for us. Jesus Christ, without a doubt, is the only reason Dan and I are still married today.

We have seven kiddos together, 3 boys and 4 girls, ages 23, 17, 16, 12, 10, 8, and 7 years old. We homeschool our 16-year-old and 10-year-old daughters. My kiddos help out with everything around our home, from cooking and cleaning to the care of our animals and growing and preserving our own food. We want our children to be able to appreciate the value of being able to raise their own food and to understand that this is a much healthier option for them and their own future families.

Homesteading is a lifestyle for us and we believe that eating as healthy and natural as possible is exactly what God has intended for us. Our goal is to produce and preserve as much of our family’s food supply as we can and to do it as naturally as we can.
